1. Lessons are booked on a first come, first served basis. For students who use the four lesson Bundle option I recommend booking your lessons at least 2 weeks before the beginning of the new month to ensure your preferred spot.

2. Lessons must be paid for in order for them to go on my calendar.

3. Lessons cancelled by the student will not be refunded. I always do my very best to find a free slot for a makeup lesson, but the reality is that my schedule is so tight it is usually not possible. I can only consider makeup lessons for within a week of the cancelled lesson. If for some reason I must cancel a lesson myself, students will either be refunded or we will communicate to find a suitable time for a makeup lesson.

4. For online students - I understand that with the use of technology there is always the risk of gltches, and ask that you be understanding of this as well. To keep our lessons running smoothly, please keep your Skype program updated as per it's prompts. Additionally, I encourage you to restart your router 20 minutes prior to the lesson, which helps keep the interent running smoothly. It may also be helpful to disconnect any other devices from your network during the lesson. If you have a very old computer it will likely cause the online lesson experience to be less enjoyable and productive. I do these things as well for all my lessons and have a brand new computer.

5. For those on the Six Month Lesson Subscription: these 18 lessons must be used within 6 months of the first lesson. Although you are welcome to schedule these 18 lesson as you wish during the 6 month period, all lessons must be scheduled no less than a month at a time.

6. I enjoy taking "requests" and teaching what the student wishes to learn; however, occasionally, certain requests will take more behind the scenes effort on my part than others. I take pride in teaching detailed, well thought out pieces. So, while I do encourage students to let me know if they have specific requests, there are times when I may need to charge an extra lesson slot to account for the extra time I must put into the piece. If this is the case we will discuss that in the lesson and come up with whatever plan suits the student.

7. I rarely, if ever, use tablature. Students are responsible for recording their lessons (I always do a recap at the end with a thorough breakdown.) If the student is unable to record his or her lesson, I am happy to do that for you and send it to you, but I will need to leave the lesson 15 minutes early to save time to do this.

Teaching Policy
I am committed to providing the best learning experience possible to aspiring banjo players of all levels and walks of life. Teaching is not only a huge passion of mine, but also an important part of my livelihood. I have a very full schedule between students, touring, recording, and of course my kids! I ask that potential students read this policy and agree to it's terms before beginning lessons.
